Changes to the National Diabetes Audit (NDA)
Participation in the National Diabetes Audit (NDA) is now a requirement within the Doctors GMS contract as follows:
From October 2017, practices will be contractually required to allow collection of data relating to the NDA. Practices should be aware of their duties and responsibilities under the fair processing guidelines and a patient’s right to opt-out of data collections containing confidential personal information.
Changes to the National Diabetes Audit (NDA)
The NDA is changing the collection method, frequency of collection and data items for collection for GP practices in England. The collection is moving towards an automatic extraction service.
For more information about how the data is collected please see digital.nhs.uk/GP-Collections
Informing Patients – Fair Processing
If a patient objects to the sharing of their data for the NDA, GP Surgeries must apply the specific read code to their patient record to record patient dissent from NDA participation. The read codes to apply are available on the NDA webpage at content.digital.nhs.uk/media/21283/Read-Codes-for-Primary-Care-for-Dissent/pdf/Read_Codes_for_Primary_Care_for_Dissent_2016_17.pdf [EXTERNAL PDF LINK]
